Khansland Five-Lentil Mix is panch mishali dal — the traditional Bengali celebration lentil preparation that combines five different lentils in carefully calibrated proportions to create a mixed dal of extraordinary complexity, depth, and nutritional completeness that no single lentil preparation can approach. Our blend contains red lentil (musur), yellow split pea (matar), pigeon pea (arhar/toor), black gram (mashkalai), and grass pea (khesari) in the traditional proportioning.

The genius of panch mishali dal lies in how the five lentils interact during cooking. Red lentil breaks down first, creating the creamy smooth matrix. Yellow split pea provides body and mild sweetness. Pigeon pea contributes its characteristic nutty note. Black gram adds richness and a slight sticky, coating quality.
